Position Summary

This position is for a Manager, IT Applications to manage Taiho’s business applications providing daily support, release planning, oversight, and support. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of application and enhancement projects from planning through deployment and support. Manager is responsible for developing solutions to enhance the system, ensuring that support processes are managed properly under the direction of the supervisor. The role will also function as a liaison between IT and the Business Client, and act as the go-to person that represents the application team support. The initial focus will be in the area of R&D systems.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with department leaders and process owners to understand their strategies and identify opportunities for IT to support their strategic plans.
  • Plan scope and prioritize application change and enhancement requests and manage releases.
  • Manage software patches and upgrades to existing applications.
  • Manage daily operations and end-user support for assigned business area applications and the resolution of all user issues affecting production operations.
  • Liaise between the user community and IT to ensure effective End User Support for access requests, service requests, training, and usability issues.
  • Document end-user support processes and provide knowledge references for the service desk.
  • Establish and/or maintain data mapping for data privacy within the assigned business area.
  • Participate in the annual Disaster Recovery test.
  • Produce high quality work in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple, concurrent assignments using time management skills.
  • Manage relationship with software vendors and consultants.
  • Follow all IT SOPs for the delivery and support of regulated systems.
  • Execute projects following industry standard best practices and ensures that vendor PMs also follow best practices when executing a project for Taiho.
  • Lead the requirements for new business solutions and execute the RFP process.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:  

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent in experience.

Experience:

  • 4 - 6 years’ experience in information technology with at least 2 - 3 years in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience supporting end users for production systems.
  • Experience building user requirements and functional specifications.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and remote teams.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated IT environment with a strong documentation culture and formal change management process.
  • Project management experiences a plus.
  • Knowledge of following R&D processes:

Clinical Trial Management

Content Management

Electronic Regulatory Publishing, Submission and Tracking

Quality Management

Safety and Adverse Event Management

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Operational knowledge of MS Word, Project, Power Point and Excel are required.
  • The successful candidate will be able to correspond in a poised and professional manner with all levels of management.
  • A team player able to work in a dynamic environment with attention to high quality results.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to function independently as well as part of a cohesive team.

Language Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Mathematical Skills:

  • None

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and present team with recommendations.

Computer Skills:

  • Experience supporting following applications a plus: MasterControl, TrackWise, Cara DMS, Wingspan eTMF, MediData RAVE, WinNonLin and SAS

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk.

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • There may be limited travel.
